Park fencing

Congratulations to the new Town Council members! We thank you for your service. And we have a request.

The beauty and serenity of Fountain Park are enjoyed by residents and visitors year round. Organizations that hold events in the park should respect that when using perimeter fencing.

The fencing used for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities was ideal – moderate height, transparent, and a subtle purple shade. It blended well with the desert surroundings while doing its job of enforcing a perimeter.

The fencing used for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities was ideal – moderate height, transparent, and a subtle purple shade. It blended well with the desert surroundings while doing its job of enforcing a perimeter.

By contrast, the fencing used for the Chinese festival was awful – a solid nine-foot wall composed of garish strips of bright yellow and red plastic poorly attached to chain link. This monstrosity occupied half the park for over two weeks, and it is coming back at Christmastime.

We would like to see the Town of Fountain Hills establish guidelines for perimeter fencing for park events, requiring all organizations to use the type of fencing that was used for the St. Patrick’s Day event.
