Recently, the Sanitary District and the town council met to discuss matters of mutual interest. While both are separate political entities, our shared goal is to work together for the benefit of the residents of our town. One item of interest discussed is a district project that would involve the creation of new restrooms attached to our well upgrade project in Fountain Park.
The district has three Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) wells within the park, critical components of the district’s effluent storage process. These ASR wells allow the district to store effluent water over the winter for use by the golf courses and the town parks during the summer. The underground control vaults for these three wells need to be replaced due to age and corrosion. For safety reasons, it is preferable to replace them with above-ground facilities. But that may not result in an aesthetically pleasing addition to our beautiful park.

Working with town staff, the district has proposed hiding these well structures in plain sight. This will be accomplished by incorporating restroom facilities into these well structures designed to match the architecture of the park’s existing facility.
The Sanitary District will be hiring a local architect to design the restrooms to be both functional and attractive amenities. This project is part of the district’s ongoing infrastructure repair and upgrade plan, taking into account the aesthetics of Fountain Park, as well as addressing a need for more public amenities in the park.
This project is wholly funded by the Sanitary District, not the town. There is no connection to the upcoming vote on the primary property tax proposal. Look for these amenities to be completed in the summer of 2019 at no additional cost to the town.
