Patricia White, 67, of Fountain Hills passed away on Aug. 22, 2018. Pat waged a courageous battle with glioblastoma, brain cancer, but died peacefully after 20 months of surgeries and treatments.
Pat was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 8, 1951. The family moved to Massachusetts when she was very young and settled in the city of Chelsea. She attended school at St. Rose and graduated in 1968. Pat worked as an administrative assistant first at Shawmut Bank and then at Tuft’s University, before moving to Arizona in 1994.
Her husband, Rod, will sorely miss his best friend, companion and wife, as she was the rock in this relationship. Pat first met Rod when she was 13 and he was 16. The friendship over the years developed, years later into true love, and marriage occurred in 1976 when Pat was 25 and Rod 28, resulting in a 42-year marriage with many happy days.
Pat’s deceased parents, John and Annetta (Rosa) Antinick raised a family of five sons and Pat. Her brothers and wives will miss her dearly. Her brothers, John (Leah) Antinick of Everett, Mass., Tom (Blanche) Antinick of Lynn, Mass., Steve (Leslie) Antinick of Cheyenne, Wyo., Michael (Mirka) Antinick, U.S. Embassy, Tunisia and Paul (Lois) Antinick of Hartland, Vt.
In 1988 Pat and Rod took a vacation and stayed in a friend’s condo in a town called Fountain Hills. They were blown away by its beauty so they bought a condo and, after vacationing there for six years, they moved from Saugus, Mass. in 1994. Pat worked for United Blood Services for 18 years before retiring in 2013.
Pat loved to travel and socialize, going to the Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii; but her favorite place was Las Vegas, where she enjoyed shows, dining and, most important, casino games. Her friends back east, the Wednesday Club Group, Debbie Guidi, Kathleen Cronin, Susan Chavanne and Janet Dembro, will make a toast to their friendship. The socializing was at AMVETS Post #7 where parties, sports and veteran activities were important. A special thanks to Al and Gail Demange, David “Bubba” Bass, Jacquie Jowers and Linda Farra for the help Pat got during the last 20 months.
Pat’s final wish was very simple: No funeral, no tears, but a celebration of life to be held at AMVETS Post #7, 17030 E. Enterprise Drive on Saturday, Sept. 15, starting at 3 p.m.
Arrangements were made by Messinger Mortuary Fountain Hills, and a special thank you to Hospice of the Valley, Eckstein Center in Scottsdale for your care and treatment.
