Paying back

In the 19 years that I have lived here I have fully enjoyed the amenities that Fountain Hills offers. But those amenities don’t come without costs.

The primary means by which I have contributed to my community was by shopping and eating locally. Yes, I did pay a secondary property tax, but only $.09 of every dollar came back to Fountain Hills.

The reality is that sales tax revenues are not enough to see us through the coming years. I am ashamed that I have received so much and have given so little in return. Nobody likes to pay taxes, but it’s clear to me that our town needs a more reliable source of revenue to sustain itself.

I am proud to say I will vote yes on the property tax so I can feel better knowing that I am paying my fair share back to the town I love so much.
