Peaks Rotary helps out Posse

Posted

Lee Doranzo from the Fountain Hills-Verdes Sheriff Posse recently shared with the Four Peaks Rotary Club the import functions that the Posse provides.

Posse members are strictly volunteers responsible for their own uniforms, vehicles and, if qualified, for their own weapons.

The only financial support that the Posse receives from the Sheriff’s Office is fuel for vehicles.

In addition, for this year, the Town Council helped the organization with a $15,000 stipend to help defray some of the costs of providing this volunteer service for the community.

In 2012 there were a total of 10,401 volunteer hours and 25,420 miles driven during the Posse members’ service hours.

Through September of this year there has been a total of 7,020 volunteer hours and 18,610 miles driven. Both categories are on track to exceed 2012 results.

In addition to the many services that the Posse provides for the Sheriff’s Office, if a homeowner is planning to be out of town, they offer citizens a vacation crime watch.

The watch is for a maximum of 30 days. One can read more of their services and/or receive an application for the crime watch through their website at www.fountainhillsposse.com or calling 816-0696.

At the conclusion of Doranzo’s presentation, the club provided a check to him for $500 for the Posse’s use.

For more information about the Four Peaks Rotary Club, contact club President Bill Beamish at (480) 390-4130, azbeamish@msn.com or visit the website at www.fourpeaksrotary.org.

The club meets the second and fourth Thursday morning of the month at 7 a.m. at the Golf Club at Eagle Mountain.
