The PEO-DZ chapter of Fountain Hills held a “Sip and Shop” event at the Beauty Box Boutique in Fountain Hills for breast cancer awareness Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Approximately, 35 PEO sisters and a few guests attended the event sponsored by Misty Watkins, owner of Beauty Box.

The event was catered by Debbie Elder, a local culinary curator. The women all wore pink and were adorned with pink ribbons in support of breast cancer.

PEO is a philanthropic education organization where women celebrate the advancement of women, educate women through scholarships, grants, loans and stewardship of Cottey College and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.

PEO has been helping women for more than 150 years and currently has approximately 5,800 chapters throughout North America, according to a press release.

The PEO-DZ chapter of Fountain Hills has approximately 60 members and awards scholarships each year to high school senior women who reside in Fountain Hills in addition to their six international projects.
