Peoria council approves purchase of $3.3M helicopter

2 dissent, ask for more information

Peoria City Council approved the purchase of a $3.3 million helicopter to serve public safety in the city, Dec. 12.

The vote was not without controversy as Mayor Jason Beck called a recess after Vice Mayor Denette Dunn motioned to move the item to the next council meeting asking for a cost benefit analysis and return on investment. Shafer seconded the motion.

After the 8-minute recess, the council voted on Dunn’s motion and it failed 2-4.
