Opening night at our theater…is there anything more exciting? I think not. “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” previewed last night to a packed house and we were not disappointed.
Book and lyrics by Joe DiPetro, music by Jimmy Roberts, produced by Patti Torrilhon, music by Jimmy Roberts and directed by Rusty Ferracane.
Rusty’s resume will knock your socks off and we are sure lucky to have him. If you have ever loved and lost, been on too many bad dates, been through a divorce or lost good friends too soon, this is the play for you.

Four actors play 40 characters and there is something for everyone. Chad Campbell, Michael Stewart, Erin Ryan and Jessica Godber are amazing as they move in and out with short scenes that include one or two vignettes. For example, “Men Who Talk and the Women Who Pretend They’re Listening,” includes “Single Man Drought” and my personal favorite “Always a Bridesmaid.” Jessica does a show-stopping number as a bridesmaid that many women can relate to, with all the dresses that hang in the closet never to be worn again.
My next favorite is “Funerals are for Dating” and includes “I Can Live With That.” This will pull at your heartstrings and is more endearing as we all grow older.
You will remember Chad Campbell in “Spamalot” and my favorite as Malcom in “Full Monty.” Jessica is new to us, but she is a graduate of Southwest Shakespeare Theatre Conservatory and we sure hope she returns. Erin Ryan took a few years off and is back and are we glad. Michael Stewart you will recognize from “Spamalot” and “Annie” among others.
To our talented theatre cast and staff I love you, you’re perfect, never, never change.
