Phase 2 of street improvements ready to roll in Fountain Hills

Work to begin Jan. 16

The Town of Fountain Hills Streets Department continues to maintain and repair roads in the community on a limited budget.

In 2022, the town hired Roadway Asset Services to laser-test the entire road network to help determine which roads needed urgent repair. This report and review of the age of streets helped formulate the four-phase road repair and replacement plan to be accomplished during the current fiscal year.

The first phase of work was completed in December 2023. That project rebuilt or repaired the industrial area of Kiwanis Drive from Saguaro to El Lago boulevards, Enterprise and Colony drives.

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 16, M.R. Tanner Construction, the contractor for the town, will begin work on phase two of the project. That work is to include removing and replacing the existing pavement on Ibsen and Sherwood drives, Sterling Way, and Ashbrook Drive between Fountain Hills Boulevard and Cameo Drive.

Residents most impacted by this current project are receiving regular updates from M.R. Tanner Construction.

The phase two road project is expected to be completed by Feb. 7. depending on weather delays.

During these road projects, residents and those using the impacted streets must obey all construction notifications and instructions from on-site safety personnel. No parking is permitted on the streets during working hours once construction begins.

The town’s normal working hours related to construction are 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Contractors typically work between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during the week.
