The Fountain Hills Photo Club is holding one of its most important club meetings of the year Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Community Center.
The membership will reveal its club plan for the 2023-2024 year at the 5:30 p.m. event.
The plan, according to senior club member and photographer, Bruce Boyce, is aimed at enhancing photographers’ skills and picture quality through timely tutorials and periodic photoshoots at local sites in the Phoenix and Fountain Hills area.
Photo Club meetings will cover the use of both classic digital cameras and the new wave of smartphones with discussions held during the monthly slideshow of pictures submitted by club members.
“We are strongly encouraging anyone with an interest in photography to attend the meeting, listen to the plan we have put together for the 2023-2024 year, and contribute their thoughts and ideas,” Boyce said.
The monthly club meetings will also feature select videos and talks on a wide range of topics of interest, including an eight-part digital photography series of short reviews of insights and tips starting with “The 4 Keys of Digital Photography” at the Oct. 11 meeting.
“Come join us to see what we will be doing this coming year – it’s also the best time to consider becoming a member,” Boyce said.
As one of its many projects, the Fountain Hills Photo Club was requested in 2021 by the Town of Fountain Hills to document the entire inventory of town-owned outdoor art with high-quality photographs. The task was completed successfully and can be viewed online at fhphotoclub.org/Member-Portfolios/FH-Art-Inventory.
Preliminary discussions earlier this year suggest there may be more artwork that the town may like photographed, Boyce said.
“Join us and you may end up joining the members who would tackle the next phase if the town asks us to go ahead,” he said.
