The pilot of a helicopter died Tuesday morning when the aircraft went down in a farm field at the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation adjacent to Fountain Hills.
Firefighters from Fort McDowell and Fountain Hills were called to the scene just after 7 a.m. to extinguish the flaming debris. The pilot was determined to be deceased at the scene.
Investigators with the NTSB were on the scene handling the investigation with the assistance of Fort McDowell Police and fire.

The pilot of a helicopter died Tuesday morning when the aircraft went down in a farm field at the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation adjacent to Fountain Hills.
Firefighters from Fort McDowell and Fountain Hills were called to the scene just after 7 a.m. to extinguish the flaming debris. The pilot was determined to be deceased at the scene.
Investigators with the NTSB were on the scene handling the investigation with the assistance of Fort McDowell Police and fire.
One witness reported hearing a bang and then seeing the helicopter drop from the sky.
The scene was near the Verde River about a half to three quarters of a mile due east of the intersection of Fort McDowell and Yavapai roads.
