The developers (who don’t even live in Fountain Hills) of the proposed multi-family rental complex at Shea and Palisades say it will bring in $42.7 million dollars of consumer spending over 10 years to Fountain Hills and $19.6 million of employment income. It appears the desperate need for money for Fountain Hills would allow such a project that would forever degrade the hillside and character of beautiful Fountain Hills.
The town planners say they want affordable housing for people to live here since it’s close to Scottsdale, where they can go to work. Where do you think they are going to shop, eat and send their kids to school? That would be Scottsdale and other surrounding areas with a vast variety of stores and fine restaurants that we will never be able to match due to our small footprint. So there goes our tax dollars once again.

Shea and Palisades is not the corner to put a multi-family rental complex on. Not only is it inconsistent with the Fountain Hills General Plan, but it will not generate much money for this town. When are people going to figure this out? Let your Town Council and Town Planning Commission know you don’t want changes like this that won’t enhance Fountain Hills, but only destroy its beautiful character, the reason most of us moved here.
Daybreak – Developer’s dream, the town planner’s pipe dream and the residents’ Nightmare.
