Plan to attend 'Meet Your Teacher' events

As the new school year approaches, local school sites are offering “meet your teacher” days and guided tours of campuses.
Following is a list of important dates and times for students planning to attend Fountain Hills Charter School or any of the sites within the Fountain Hills Unified School District.
Don’t forget that the first day of school for FHUSD and FHCS is Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Charter School
For the Charter School, teachers will contact parents to set up parent/teacher conferences for some one-on-one time in the classroom.
These meetings are designed to set up a personal education plan for the school year and will be held on Monday Aug. 5.
McDowell Mountain
McDowell Mountain Elementary School will hold a Meet Your Teacher event for the 2019-2020 school year on Friday, Aug. 2, from 9 to 11 a.m.
For those who still need to register for class, the office is officially open for the new school year and parents are encouraged to drop by when convenient.
Preschool Back to School Night and additional Back to School events will be scheduled in August.
FHMS
A Meet Your Teacher Open House event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fountain Hills Middle School.
Parents are invited to stop by with their students anytime throughout the evening.
Students in fourth and fifth grade can meet their homeroom teacher and middle school students can pick up their new class schedules during the Meet Your Teacher event or on the first day of school.
FHMS health aide, Debbie Jones, will also be available from 5 to 8 p.m. for parents who wish to drop off their child’s medication.
Parents can also put money on a lunch account during this time, PE uniforms and Falcon spirit wear can be purchased and additional community clubs and organizations will be on hand to meet visiting families.
FHHS
Fountain Hills High School no longer requires parents to visit the campus for “walkthrough” registrations, though tours can be scheduled at any time on the high school website. Visit hs.fountainhillsschools.org for more details.
Under the header for “About Us,” you will find a tab for “Registration” with links to all of the needed information including an enrollment packet, permission slips, parking permit form, fee lists and more.
Parents are encouraged to conduct pre-registration activities and fee payments online prior to the first day of school.
Falcon Fest will be held on Monday Aug. 5, at the FHHS gym from 12 to 7 p.m.
Falcon Fest is a chance for students and parents to tour campus, meet their teachers, pick up their schedule and ID cards, register for parking and lockers, and take care of any fees.
Juniors and seniors who want to apply for off-campus lunch privileges must bring their signed, notarized application to Falcon Fest in order to receive their special IDs.
FHHS has divided students into four alphabetical categories for efficiency and to keep the lines shorter.
A-F is 12 to 1 p.m., G-L is 1 to 2 p.m., M-R is 2 to 3 p.m. and S-Z is 3 to 4 p.m.
If you can’t make your designated time, come between 4 to 7 p.m. as that time is available for all students.
