Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission reviews Campanelli draft

Previous council withheld consultant’s proposal due to privilege

The Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission has begun what is expected to be a long process to revisit the town’s telecommunications infrastructure regulations. At a commission meeting on March 10, Development Services Director John Wesley went over a side-by-side comparison of the existing regulations and a consultant’s draft ordinance prepared by Andrew Campanelli.

Campanelli was hired by the previous council to assist with the ordinance. However, his draft was rejected by the council, and he was dismissed as a consultant. The council declined to release the draft that had been reviewed by the council in closed executive session, citing attorney-client privilege. The commission never saw the draft.

The council passed an ordinance with telecommunications regulations in September last year.
