The Town Council this week will consider a joint project with the Four Peaks Rotary Club to create a music-themed playground in Fountain Park.
The proposal is for the Rotary Club to work in conjunction with the Cultural and Civic Association and the Greening of the Downtown Committee to develop the playground.
The plan calls for the large oval area central to the site where the current playgrounds and the restroom/control building are located to be used for the new playground.

Playground project on council agenda

The Town Council this week will consider a joint project with the Four Peaks Rotary Club to create a music-themed playground in Fountain Park.
The proposal is for the Rotary Club to work in conjunction with the Cultural and Civic Association and the Greening of the Downtown Committee to develop the playground.
The plan calls for the large oval area central to the site where the current playgrounds and the restroom/control building are located to be used for the new playground.
Costs are estimated at $51,200 for the musical instruments and installation, which the Rotary Club would pay for. An additional $17,000 would be used for landscaping the area with new tree plantings and granite walkways. The total cost would be about $68,000.
The Greening Committee would manage the landscaping project.
The town Community Services Advisory Commission has endorsed the plan.
The council is also scheduled to take up the issue of replatting the site where the Morningstar nursing home is being built.
The replat will combine the three lots currently platted into a single lot. This is to accommodate construction on the site, which has already begun.
The council will consider approval of two new signs on the outer edges of town designating and recognizing the four international Sister Cities of Fountain Hills.
The sign locations would be on Shea Boulevard near the east and west boundaries of Fountain Hills.
The council will also discuss a proposal by a group of citizens to amend lighting standards and regulations for the town. The objective of the rule changes would be to maintain a “dark sky” environment for the town.
The Town Council will meet Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
