A local Poetry Club, based at the Fountain Hills Activity Center, offers two great programs here November through April.

Do you have a love of poetry that you’d like to share with others?

The Poetry Club invites anyone who loves to read and/or write poetry to come.

A “poetry readers” session is held the first Tuesday (10 to 11:30 a.m.) of each month starting in November.

This group reads and responds to poems by published poets. A different poet is featured each month.

The “poetry writers” session is held the third and fourth Tuesday of each month (10 a.m. to 12 noon) starting in November. Here, writers share original poems they have penned themselves.

Program coordinator is Mary Messick, a retired teacher who is passionate about reading and writing poetry and memoir.

The freelance writer and editor taught art and English in Arizona, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Activity Center membership is required for the classes, which are held at the Community Center.
