Political tumult highlights government activity in Fountain Hills

2024 a year of controversy at Town Hall

Jason Morris, an attorney representing Sandor Development, discussed the proposal to redevelop a portion of the Target Plaza in Fountain Hills with an apartment project before a Chamber of Commerce meeting in early 2024. The project has so far drawn divided commentary, an ethics violation complaint agsinst a council member, a referendum attempt and a failed lawsuit against the town.

The year 2024 might be described as a year Town Council members chose to weaponize the Town Council Code of Ethics against one another.

Citizens also got into the action, filing their own ethics complaints.

In January Councilmember Brenda Kalivianakis filed a complaint against fellow Councilmember Allen Skillicorn for an incident that occurred in September 2023 relating to an interaction with a town employee.
