Rules: 1) Never permit your name to be printed on anything you have not seen. 2) Never underestimate the political connections of your adversaries. 3) See rule No. 1.

In recent weeks numerous letters and mailers have been circulating the community regarding the Republican Party Golden Eagle Precinct Committeemen Election. I, and 11 of my friends, committed the political blunder of permitting an out of town firm to create and mail a promotional piece without approving the final layout. As it turns out, the producer chose to use the Republican Party Logo on that piece without our knowledge or approval.

A naive and regrettable political error was committed, and for that we are both embarrassed and guilty. The fact that our opponents have succeeded in recruiting the Republican State and LD 23 Chairmen to pen a mailer suggesting “intentional deception” rather than “simple, regrettable error” is quite another. Se rule No. 2.

Some of you have known me as a community activist of nearly 40 years. If your opinion of my character is anything other than honorable and respectable, then I have not earned the right to your vote. On the other hand, if you are fed up with this kind of deceptive, insider, negative political activity, my 11 friends and I would be most thankful for your support in the upcoming election.
