The Hashknife Pony Express riders make their annual visit to the Post Office in Fountain Hills on Thursday, Feb. 1, arriving at about 3 p.m.
The riders are set to leave Holbrook early in the week and arrive at Payson on Jan. 31. They leave Payson Thursday at 9 a.m. carrying the mail down SR 87 (Beeline Highway) to Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation for their overnight stop.
Riders will carry mailbags up the Avenue of the Fountains at about 3 p.m. Feb. 1. The public is invited to turn out to watch and welcome the riders to town.
On Friday, Feb. 2, the ride continues down the Beeline to the Arizona Canal and then across the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Community and into Scottsdale to the Western Spirit Museum, Museum of the West where the ride concludes.
The Pony Express riders are to participate in Scottsdale’s annual Parada del Sol Parade.
