The NDOP theme for 2016 is “Wake Up America.” The scripture is Isaiah 58:1a, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back, raise your voice like a trumpet.”

The Fountain Hills National Day of Prayer committee is already planning for the fifth annual prayer gathering on Thursday, May 5, at the Fountain Park amphitheater.

The committee encourages churches to join together in a common prayer focus throughout the year, not just on one day of the year. The group reports to the Fountain Hills Christian Ministerial Association.

The NDOP theme for 2016 is “Wake Up America.” The scripture is Isaiah 58:1a, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back, raise your voice like a trumpet.”

NDOP states, “The mission of the National Day of Prayer Task Force is to mobilize prayer in America and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in the culture.”

During this month, the committee invites congregations to pray for local businesses because they play a key role in international, national and local communities, said spokeswoman Susan Bye.

Members ask, “Let God’s Spirit of understanding, counsel, and power rest on each business leader, investor, and entrepreneur. Fill them with the knowledge of His will so that they can incorporate God’s principles into their business practices.

“Give Christians in the marketplace a spirit of wisdom and revelation so they can know and follow God in their work. Keep all the men and women in businesses in His gracious care.”
