As the community approaches the season of Thanksgiving, it is also an opportune time to give to those in need.
That is why Presby Pickins’ Flea Market is hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the Extended Hands Food Bank (EHFB) Saturday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The EHFB Truck will be on location at the flea market and will be collecting turkeys, canned vegetables such as corn and green beans, cream of mushroom soup, cranberries, gravy, stuffing, frozen pies and five-pound bags of potatoes.
EHFB kindly requests that participants do not bring items that are opened, in glass containers, expired or prepared meals. The food bank plans to distribute at least 150 boxes to needy recipients, according to EHFB’s Executive Director, David Iverson,
“Let’s come together to support EHFB in their mission to provide holiday dinners to those in our community who are less fortunate,” flea market coordinator Shawn Uphoff said. “Your donations of holiday dinner items will help ensure that every family can enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving meal.”
Presby Pickins’ Flea Market takes place the first Saturday of each month, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It features more than 40 vendors offering a wide variety of goods including art, collectibles, clothes, household items, jewelry, shoes, toys, records and more.
Proceeds from the sale of vendor spaces, donated items and refreshments directly support the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church’s ministry projects and community programs.
“This initiative is an opportunity for us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors,” Uphoff said. “Your support and generosity will make a significant impact on the lives of those in need during this Thanksgiving season. Thank you for being a part of our community’s compassionate and giving spirit.”
Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church is located at 13001 N. Fountain Hills Blvd.
