I am privileged to have had 40 years to ponder every day, “Why do I live here?” and my answer is always the same, “Why wouldn’t everyone want to live here?”

All I have to do is walk one block in any direction from my front door to see the wonder and beauty of Arizona that people come from around the world to experience.

So the next question becomes, “Am I entitled to live in the midst and wonder of all this beauty or do I have a responsibility to give something back to the community that provides me the privilege?” The answer again is obvious, “My entitlement is directly related to the amount of my contribution.”

There is a cost to living in and maintaining the lifestyle we enjoy. We have gotten away with living on the cheap for far too long and the bill has come due. Please step up and vote yes for the property tax initiative this week. It is the least we can do for the town and lifestyle we love.
