Last Thursday night at the Community Center, during a meeting for discussing the proposed lagoon, the first hour was spent explaining why we needed a property tax for the town.
Anyone who thinks that the development of a lagoon will solve the problem of our roads is smoking something extremely strong. If you compare a property tax in our community to that of Phoenix, you must include the services of water and sewer to make a close comparison.
People endorsing the property tax for our community must remember that once the town acquires this method of collecting funds, they can change the amount at any time. For those that don’t understand the concept of a town property tax, you must understand that we currently fund the town from sales taxes, fees for building licenses and a small amount tacked on to water and other utilities.

The paving of Saguaro was done with a bond issue approved by citizens of this community. Read your billing. If anyone thinks having a lagoon with all of the problems associated with it will pay for repaving roads, they are crazy.
