Propositions

Primary election season is over. Most campaign signs have disappeared in the last few days as new ones begin to take their place. Congratulations to the winners on their success and respectful recognition to the others who participated in the process but weren’t as successful. Hopefully, they all acknowledge that this is done not for personal gain, but to serve we, the people.

As we turn our attention toward the November election, be aware that several ballot propositions for our consideration and vote will be included. As with all election questions, it is our civic duty to make informed choices. The ballot propositions address possible changes to a number of issues: what services can be subject to sales tax; should mandates on specific sources of energy production be expanded; should the recently enacted expansion of education empowerment scholarships be preserved or reversed; can a candidate’s leftover “clean election” campaign funds be transferred to a political party or other organization?

All of these are important issues which deserve our attention and careful consideration. If you want to learn more about these propositions, they will be the discussion topic at Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party on Thursday evening, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. We will have several outside speakers leading the discussion. The meeting will be held at the Fountain Hills Unified School District Learning Center (northeast corner of Golden Eagle and Palisades). All interested parties are invited and welcome. We hope you can join us.
