In last week’s paper a writer branded Donald Trump a “racist.” There is no evidence whatsoever that Donald Trump is a racist.

The misguided Leftist writer rests his case on Trump’s well-known plan to defend our borders against illegal entry, to repatriate those already here illegally and to limit or deny further immigration from Muslim nations.

Stopping the border incursions and sending back the illegals is self-explanatory and cannot be construed in any way as “racist.” It’s only about enforcement of sensible laws which apply to anyone, regardless of race.

As for restricting immigration from Muslim nations, when there is greater risk in their moving here than there is reward for those of us who are already citizens, it’s not a matter of race. It’s a matter of self-preservation from an enemy we’re all familiar with, not identifiable by sight or even investigation, but which has a sole identifying and common characteristic: that enemy is a follower of Islam.

It’s only about protecting American citizens and their families from those who would wantonly murder us. We know that twenty percent of foreign Muslims would favor that, but we don’t know who the twenty percent are. Thus, we have far more to lose in accepting Muslim immigrants than we have to gain. We owe them nothing anyway, and we can’t identify among the one if five who would kill us.

We have a presidential candidate whose oath upon winning the office would require him to protect the nation. He explains to the voters that, because of those features of Muslim immigration, for the time being, he would refuse them admittance to the country.

That’s what the Leftists want you to believe is “racism?” That claim is as false as it is absurd.
