I read “My Opinion” by Ginny Dickey. She accuses Sheriff Joe of “disrespectful behavior” for training his deputies in a school building. I thought that Sheriff Joe had a good idea. After all, we know why the Army, Navy, firefighters and first responders train. Does Ms. Dickey? Were her protests during the training “disrespectful?” Was Ms. Dickey looking for some free publicity?

The March 23, 2013 edition of the Fargo Forum contained a front page full color picture of three armed officers (two with assault rifles at the ready) in the hallway of Ben Franklin Middle School in Fargo, N.D. The officers were from Cass County and Burleigh County in North Dakota. The other officer was from Clay County, Minnesota. Guess what they were doing? They came to rob the library of Mickey Mouse textbooks? No! They were training! This is not a difficult concept.

Ms. Dickey then states that she wants to hold a recall election for Sheriff Joe who was just elected by a wide margin. I have a better idea. Why don’t we have a recall election for Ms. Dickey? I don’t see intelligent representation.

I would like to know Ms. Dickey’s plans for protecting citizens from “crazies.” We protect our president with guns. We protect our governor with guns. We even protect New York Mayor Bloomberg with guns.

We protect our children with a sign that reads: “This is a gun free zone.” We then call someone with a gun if there is an emergency. Well, Ms. Dickey, are you going to protect us with some really neat signs?
