Five teams of real estate agents and affiliate members of Fountain Hills Realtor Marketing Session (FHRMS) will “play with food” next week in the Community Center.
Competitors will turn canned, dried and packaged food items into sculptures.
A sculpture could be a building, animal, plant, figure or design.
After the winning entries are announced and dismantled, the food will be donated to Extended Hands Food Bank.
It is the first event of its kind to replenish the food bank shelves.
Organizer Patty DeLaney of WIN Home Inspection said charitable and church organizations have sponsored similar projects.
Competitors first design their sculptures and then select cans or packages to produce the desired color and shapes for their 3-D sculptures.
Plastic and aluminum food containers of all sizes can be used. Every effort is taken to use nutritionally edible foods, said DeLaney.
The maximum size for a structure is 8 feet long, 4 feet wide and no higher than 6 feet.
The public and FHRMS members can vote. HomeSmart Premier Realty will sell raffle tickets from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22. A $1 ticket will represent one vote.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to a charity of the competitors’ choice.
