Ginny Dickey displayed hypocrisy in her letter to the editor on Aug. 9, “Alarming.” I was particularly amused by her accusation that “…the Mayor and several Council members continue to give special treatment to favored groups and businesses. We’ve seen it before – $30K proposed annually to the Chamber for a visitors’ center…”

But as a councilwoman, Dickey herself continually voted to give money to the same Chamber of Commerce. And Dickey, while a council member, never objected to the town giving hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to the community theater run by her own sister – never a peep.

I was also surprised by Dickey’s indignation that some of the emails she sent to or received from certain council members concerning town business on her personal email account might have to be turned in by, not her, but those members as part of a legal freedom of information public records request.

She should know the Public Records Law. After all, she has served on a school board, town council and was a full-time political appointee to a state job by former Democrat Governor Janet Napolitano. Surely someone with that much government experience knows that public records requests are no less public when public officials use their personal email accounts to conduct government business.
