We really need to hire a public relations firm; I don’t think the town council is promoting our town properly. The council has said that, without a property tax, there is no way our town can grow out of our shortfall; that we simply don’t and will not have the population.
One of their main reasons is we do not have a higher student population. They say the new homes and 400 apartments being built will not add to our population. The 300-room hotel and two blocks of stores will have little impact on our revenues. Great message to send to other builders and those people thinking of moving to our town.

How about some of them saying the average age of our residents is 58 years old? I guess they want to tell the 30 million baby boomers that are in line to retire, you are not welcome here.
They also want to make it public that we have crumbling buildings, infrastructure and roads, and no money to fix them. Next I think they should rent a billboard on Beeline Highway and Route 202. It could say, “We welcome young families to live in Fountain Hills. We will soon be one of the highest taxed cities in Maricopa County.”
Here is the best one! Councilman Tolis said it has become clear to him that the public has no taste for developing public attractions to generate revenues, like his idea of making us a tourist magnet town. You see, we upset him when we refused to waste money on his ideas. I now must question, Has he ever had any business experience in aquatic centers or beach lagoons? Where is the marketing research report?
