ORDINANCE AMENDMENT

Fountain Hills P&Z looks at parking regulations

Amended for home businesses

The Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission has sent a recommendation to the town council for an ordinance amendment related to parking for home-based businesses.

During a council discussion on parking regulations that took place earlier this year, there was some concern about the potential of on-street parking related to businesses in residential neighborhoods. At that time no action was taken to address those concerns, but staff have since reworked the ordinance to update the language.

In his staff report on the subject, Developoment Services Director John Wesley said, “The request made at the council meeting was to adjust the ordinance to require that during business hours, all parking associated with the property has to occur in the garage or on a paved driveway or on-site paved parking space if there is space for them. Only if all on-site parking is occupied could there be any parking on the street.”
