The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on Thursday this week and will take up an extension of the sunset date to allow for the use of A-frame signs and banners for special sales and events.
The current ordinance expires on Dec. 31, 2018 and the proposed amendment would extend the date to Dec. 31, 2020.
The extensions have been granted on a two-year basis since 2012. Without an extension the use of the A-frame and banner signs would be banned.

There will be a public hearing associated with this item and the commission will consider a recommendation to the Town Council, which will consider the item on Dec. 18.
The commission will also consider a recommendation to the council related to large detached accessory buildings within single family zoning districts.
The proposed zoning change would allow for such buildings.
A related proposal would clarify definitions related to the front plane and street-side plane on structures within residential zoning.
Current definitions may have the “front” of the house facing what is legally defined as the “side yard.” This can create issues related to setback regulations related to additions, accessory buildings, fences or swimming pools.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet Thursday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
