Quarterly

I received my copy of Fountain Hills First Quarterly and certain things became clearer to me.

For example, Park Place (which is not looked upon fondly by the year-round residents) was glorified by the council for the sales tax they will receive and forget about traffic congestion and any view that used to be seen from the Avenue and surrounding areas. Let’s fill up all empty land and perhaps create another loud, bright, busy city like the ones we all moved out of.

I actually had a good laugh when I read the Dark Sky Community. It is obvious that the full-time residents want and like a Dark Sky Community. It has been that way since Fountain Hills’ inception and it is beautiful. So why do we have a Fountain Park that looks like an airport landing?

I have heard all of the arguments but know for a fact that for years I have walked the Fountain Park in the early summer mornings and have met many people who also did this, not complaining. Sometimes, at 4 a.m., a flashlight may be necessary to pick up dog droppings. I have never heard anyone complain about the dark.

And in addition, the lights are totally ugly. Since it is lit, I will not walk the park again. Leave it for the winter people who are afraid of the dark.

I wonder what other ugly improvement this council or the next will come up with instead of fixing what needs to be fixed like roads and fountains.

Incidentally, can anyone explain to me why there are lights on the top of the Town Hall? They are not used only for Christmas, but always. Tacky.
