Rain rumbles in Fountain Hills, across Valley overnight

Precipitation sparse across town

People across Fountain Hills reported being awakened by thunderclaps and pounding rain on their roof-tops about midnight on Friday, Sept. 19, but according to rainfall monitors of the Flood Control District of Maricopa County, rain totals across town were sparse.
The county rain gauge at Hesperus Dam along the north edge of Fountain Hills recorded .24-inch, and that was the greatest amount received. North Heights Dam just south of the Hesperus location received .16-inch of rain, and there was .12-inch recorded at Adero Canyon Trailhead on Cloudburst Wash. At Fountain Park the rain gauge received .06-inch, but wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour were recorded. There was no significant damage reported around town.
The greatest amounts of rain were recorded by county monitoring sites in the north Phoenix and north Scottsdale areas with well over an inch of rainfall at several locations in the Cave Creek and Carefree ar-eas.
