The final remnants of Hurricane Simon trailed across the Valley Thursday morning. It did not cause as much rainfall as two previous tropical storms that passed during September.
While the bulk of the storm was to leave rain across the state on Wednesday, it was early Thursday morning when most of what Fountain Hills received fell.
The Maricopa County Flood Control rain gauges in Fountain Hills collected in the range of a quarter to a half inch by noon Thursday. Along McDowell Mountain Road just north of town the monitoring station received .35 inch of rain. The fire station on Palisades Boulevard and along Hesperus Wash near the the western boundary of Fountain both received .24-inch of rain.
