A non-political event? Really? The Republican Club obtained the event liquor license, is arranging the speakers, the M/C is a conservative talk show host, Joe Arpaio is as Republican as can be and there’s a $50 fee to attend!
I’m astounded that Grady Miller can’t see the political implications here. It may well have started as a fundraiser for the EHFB, a worthy cause indeed, but when the Republican Club Et al became involved, that non-political event status evaporated.
Further, I didn’t realize that Grady Miller as Town Manager had the authority to unilaterally waive fees. My understanding is that such a waiver can only be done by the Council itself in a public vote where citizens can have input. If my understanding is incorrect, please enlighten me.

As this Town’s financial well-being is uncertain at best, I am hoping for Council’s reconsideration of this waiver. Please do so in public where others have an opportunity to be heard.
