Addiction comes in various forms such as drugs, alcohol or pornography, but it could be food, or information, that becomes addictive.
There are many programs to treat addictions, but there are few that are successful long term. Most recovery programs treat the symptoms, but never get to the root of the addiction.

Quite often there are physical and mental imbalances that need to be addressed, but the spiritual imbalance is not considered.
Treatment of the spiritual imbalance begins when we acknowledge that God, through Jesus, is the creator of all things (Colossians 1:16).
God placed a void within our soul that causes us to search for Him. It is only when we fill that void that we begin to become spiritually balanced. Addictions are the human way to fill the void, but they never satisfy the desire, and the addiction continues to grow.
A relationship with Jesus is God’s design to fill the void with His Holy Spirit, placing the desires of God ahead of our own. In doing so, we experience a deep satisfaction that we are following the plan of God, which is so much better than the plans we make for ourselves (Jeremiah 29:11).
God is fully aware of our weaknesses and our failures, but we can overcome them through a relationship with Christ. Our ultimate recovery begins when we recognize healing comes from God, and we accept His recovery plan for the sinful life.
When we accept the gift of Christ through His death on the cross as our hope of salvation, and we confess our sinfulness to God, He forgives us and cleanses us from our unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). The road to recovery begins today (2 Corinthians 6:2).
