Another East Valley freeway project begins this week that may have some impact on travel planning for Fountain Hills residents.
ADOT has announced it is beginning a widening project on the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway that will create traffic restrictions between Gilbert Road west to the Loop 101 interchange.
This weekend westbound loop 202 will be closed between Power Road and Country Club (SR-87) from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27.
The following weekend eastbound lanes will closed between Country Club Drive and Power Road.
These closures will allow for work zone set up.
In addition to adding new regular traffic lanes the Red Mountain Project will include HOV lanes, bridge widening, retaining walls and sound wall.
The project is scheduled for completion in spring of 2016.
