Red Ribbon Week starts at the track in Fountain Hills

Exercise to feel alive

Red Ribbon Week is back in action and taking over schools in the Fountain Hills community.

The festivities started with the Red Ribbon Walk at McDowell Mountain Elementary School. Elementary students got the chance to meet the Fountain Hills High School mascot. They stretched and exercised at the new gym with Fountain Hills Iron Roots. Finally, they ran or walked four laps around the track.

The event not only gave the students a fun time outside, but also a good workout. The walk also showed how valuable and healthy it is to go on a jog or run, according to organizers. Students learned exercise can keep the body and mind clean and can lead to a healthy, long life. Going on a jog or walk clears your mind, too.
