Lace up those sneakers, fluff the feathers and prepare to trot. Registration is officially open for the 2025 Turkey Trot 5K and Fitness Walk in Fountain Hills on Thanksgiving morning.

This is one of the most popular Turkey Trot events in the Valley and will start promptly at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27. The racecourse begins in the heart of downtown Fountain Hills and circles Fountain Park.

This fun, family-friendly tradition is a perfect way to kick off the holiday, according to a press release, with a little movement before the mashed potatoes. Whether a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or you just want to show off in a turkey costume, there’s a place for everyone at the start line.

“Each year, the Turkey Trot brings our community together in such a fun and energetic way,” said Recreation Manager Ryan Preston. “Get ready to gobble, wobble and run!”

Additionally, this year features the “Mayor’s Challenge.” Fountain Hills Mayor Gerry Friedel is pledging to donate $1 to Extended Hands Food Bank for every participant who posts a faster time than him.

“I’ve never been more excited to give away money,” Mayor Friedel said. “We hope you sign up, join us for some fun and help out a good cause along the way.”

The 5K run is chip-timed for those who like to strut their speed, while the one-mile fitness walk is perfect for participants of all ages.

Early bird pricing for entry runs through Thursday, Nov. 6. Early packet pickup is underway, with packets available at Town Hall during normal business hours. Register online and find additional details at FountainHillsAZ.Gov/TurkeyTrot.

The presenting sponsor for this year’s event is the Pellegrini Group (MCO Realty).
