Reject the audacity of hate in Fountain Hills

OPINION — Recently, a group peacefully exercising its First Amendment rights at Shea and Saguaro was confronted by a man who approached in an aggressive and threatening manner, shouting and pointing at one of the participants, a senior woman. The group remained calm and recorded the encounter. No one in town should feel intimidated for participating in peaceful civic expression.

This was not an isolated incident. At a recent No Kings protest, an individual wearing MAGA attire walked up to one of the protesters with the apparent intention to provoke. Later, as participants were simply returning to their cars with signs in hand, they were again addressed rudely by others in the area.

Whether one agrees with the message being expressed or not, harassment and intimidation have no place in public discourse.
