Relay for Life needs some volunteers

Relay for Life organizers are still on the lookout for folks willing to help get the ball rolling on next year’s big event and have set their first “Interest Meeting” for Monday, Aug. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Euro Pizza. Folks can stop by anytime during that window to learn more and discuss committee positions.

Organizers are looking for input from community members and those interested in chipping in with next year’s event.

Relay for Life of Fountain Hills is a 12-hour community-based event that raises funds for the American Cancer Society. With these funds the American Cancer Society is able to fund all types of cancer research and offer free programs and services to community members. So far, the 2016 Fountain Hills Relay for Life has raised over $40,000 and organizers are on the lookout for additional help to ensure that 2017 is the most successful yet.

Relay for Life of Fountain Hills is a 12-hour community-based event that raises funds for the American Cancer Society. So far, the 2016 Fountain Hills Relay for Life has raised over $40,000 and organizers are on the lookout for additional help to ensure that 2017 is the most successful yet.

From the adults, organizers are looking for individuals to help pull next year’s event together.

“We need volunteers to help plan the 2017 Relay for Life of Fountain Hills,” said Community Manager Jane Hahn. “The Event Leadership Team members help plan and promote the event. They ensure everything is organized, from recruiting and motivating teams and sponsors to planning day-of event ceremonies and activities. We have something for everyone.”

As for local youths, participation in the event, hosting a booth as part of a club activity or simply showing up to show support are always welcome.

With the money raised at this event, the American Cancer Society is able to offer free rides to cancer treatments, support the Look Good Feel Better Program, offer support and offer assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year through the 24/7 hotline.
