Representative David Schweikert of Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District will be the speaker at the next meeting of the Fountain Hills Republican Club Saturday, April 18, at 9 a.m. at the Community Center.
Schweikert, a long-time resident of Fountain Hills, was elected to his third term in 2014 in a district that encompasses not only Fountain Hills, but also includes north Phoenix, Scottsdale, portions of Cave Creek and Carefree and Rio Verde.
Schweikert is a leading proponent of reining in government spending, eliminating the deficit, reforming the tax code and reducing the size of government.
He is a long-time advocate of free enterprise, economic growth and veterans’ issues. Recognized as a fiscal conservative, he is a detail-oriented “guy” with a background in statistics and actuarial studies.
He is a member of the House Committee on Financial Services and is one of only 20 members, from both the House and the Senate, chosen to serve on the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee.
He also serves on sub-committees on Monetary Policy and Trade and on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises.
The Fountain Hills Republican Club meetings are open to all interested persons. No reservations are necessary.
A “social time” begins at 8:30 a.m. with complimentary coffee and light breakfast refreshments.
The club has also begun a series of evening social events at various Fountain Hills restaurants. No speakers, just good political conversation in a casual setting. It’s a great opportunity for members to get to know one another better and a great way for interested Republicans to learn more about the club.
The April “social” will be held on the patio of the Lexington Hotel on Tuesday, April 28, at 6 p.m. No reservations needed.
Recent monthly events were held at Arrivederci's and Wicked Six at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Clubhouse. The club will remain active during the summer months.
