The Town of Fountain Hills, in partnership with Republic Services, has announced the recipients of the 2024 Non-Profit Grant Program.
A total of $10,000 is being awarded to two local non-profits: • Falcon Fiesta Graduation Celebration- $5,000 • Fountain Hills Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition - $5,000.
This grant program, designed to support nonprofit organizations based in Fountain Hills, funds initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, enhance the town’s natural beauty, foster public enjoyment, encourage healthy lifestyles and human services, and provide educational opportunities.
“For more than a decade, Republic has served Fountain Hills residents well by providing curbside recycling and regular trash collection, offering free bulk and green waste collection, and holding annual household hazardous and electronic waste events, saving the town hundreds of thousands of dollars,” said Mayor Ginny Dickey. “They assist with Make a Difference Day, Oktoberfest, and sponsor the annual recycling art competition. Awarding these annual grants to non-profit organizations for all these years is just a natural extension of this valuable partnership striving to meet the needs of our shared constituency.”
Melissa Krueger, Municipal Manager of Metro Phoenix at Republic Services, also shared her enthusiasm: “At Republic Services, our commitment to the communities we serve extends beyond the services we provide. As we congratulate the winners, we look forward to witnessing the actualization of these projects and the lasting effects they will have on our community.”
A total of 11 grant applications were received and reviewed by a five-member panel. Each application was evaluated on its overall community impact, particularly how the proposed project or program enriches the Fountain Hills community at large. The committee also considered how well the project addresses human and environmental challenges or opportunities, as well as the potential of the project to educate and inform the local community.
The selected awardees were recognized during the Nov. 19 Town Council meeting, where they received their grant funding.
