Remember when resolutions were fun and silly and not really of much importance? It has become a tradition in which participation is expected. However, there are always those resolutions that are serious and have strong desires for them to happen. A good health resolution is very popular. What are your favorites?
This year has been fraught with turmoil and bitterness. We have seen many things developing and happening that are stealing our liberties and freedoms. Increasing dangers of relying on laws that do not treat people equally. The insidious attacks and disregard for the Constitution. Do you ever think about losing your republic?
The following are a few of my resolutions: I hope the federal government doesn’t misallocate more than $100 billion as was done last year. I hope that the thousands of drug offenders doing time don’t get the suggested reduced sentences from the U.S. Sentencing Commission.

I hope the Health and Human Services does not implement its directive that states “achieving health equality requires valuing everyone equally with focused and ongoing societal efforts to address avoidable inequities, historical and contemporary injustices, and the elimination of health and health care disparities.”
Does anyone have a clue what the directive means?
I hope the EPA doesn’t declare a large area along the Tucson border as a nature preserve that can’t have roads for law enforcement vehicles or helicopters flying in preserve air space.
Anything bugging you?
Alexis de Tocqueville said: “When the past no longer illuminates the future, the spirit walks in darkness.” Is our past illuminating a future that you want or does our future look dark?

I hope you have a happy New Year and a bright future.
