Why are the proponents of the tax increase using Kool-Aid scare tactics with “Save our Town” signs? Why did the town council wait so long to propose this tax increase, as the “dire need” did not happen overnight?
The council has included two issues: Voting for a huge tax increase that first asked for a few million and now is asking for $7 million and giving the council the right to determine annual 2 percent increases, forever.
What projects could bonds be used for which ensures the money is spent on a specific project. How could the council vote to triple our road budget without knowing the needs or costs?

Shouldn’t voting be by residents based on facts and priorities rather than vague information? We lived in Scottsdale 22 years and voted on taxes, increases, bonds and schools. Sometimes they did not pass the first time due to not justifying need and what money was to be used for.
How can any politician think that raising our taxes by 20 percent is a good idea? It is not the pennies they propose. Where is their fiscal responsibility?
Don’t give away your voting rights to the town council to increase your taxes 2 percent per year because councils, projects and situations change over time. This council has soiled itself more than once – think lagoon!
It looks like the council got the cart before the horse. Vote no, gather the horses and put the horse before the cart with some real budgetary facts! Let the residents vote for taxes, future increases and bonds. Voting yes is forever, councils and issues change with time!
