Last week’s Fountain Hills Times had several letters lauding those who organized the Donald Trump rally. However, those objecting to his presence in our community should also be praised.
In the 1960’s there were many who opposed racism in the South and were willing to risk their well-being and to go to jail in their struggle against the demagogues of the South.
Similarly, we should support those who oppose the racist and the demagogue who currently is running to be the Republican Party’s nominee. He condemns Hispanics and Muslims as drug mules, criminals and/or terrorists. He appeals to raw emotions and base instincts and threatens to deport those who are different – legal or otherwise.

Those who oppose Donald Trump should be supported just as those who opposed racism and demagogues in the South in the 1960’s.
