Congratulations to Wendy, Edith and Judy; not just for your successful campaigns but for having the courage and resolve to step up and volunteer to serve our students and education community.

I wish to thank first and foremost my family, who allowed me to pursue my interests even when it meant sacrificing time and attention to those things that matter most. Specifically I want to thank my daughter, who continues to be my motivation to do everything possible in support of public education.

The last 16 months have been the most rewarding over the past 11 years and I want to thank my board colleagues and Superintendent Tom Lawrence for their guidance. I know Jill Reed and Dr. Wright will provide valuable leadership and experience.

Last and definitely not least I need to express my appreciation for all who supported and encouraged me to continue my efforts; especially parents, teachers, staff, volunteers and local business owners who do the heavy lifting within our schools.

While being a member of the Governing Board is a privilege, I firmly believe that real change happens in the ground game. I’m not going anywhere. Go Falcons!
