Rhino round-up

Herb Warren recently returned from visiting in the Kruger National Park area in South Africa where his brother is trying to improve protection for his herd of rhinos. Herb was invited to observe and partake in an experience of a lifetime.

His brother had purchased another new ranch more isolated from major roads and better suited for 24-hour guards armed with automatic weapons to try and ensure the rhinos’ safety. Poachers have killed nine of his rhinos since Jan. 1.

The herd was tranquilized, health checks done and dehorned to try and make them less attractive to poachers. The entire herd was relocated safely and they all appear to be thriving in their new location.
