On Aug. 23, 2016 we all lost a very special person. Richard Edmund Read of Fountain Hills was born on Sept. 19, 1942 in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Shirley and Richard Read.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Vargo Read; and daughters, Shelly and Tina and their husbands, Dave Seeger and Jim Sweet. Dick was adored by his grandchildren, Bradley (wife, Lin), Kyle and Jack Seeger, Jacque and Alexandra Shelton, Michael Sweet, and his great granddaughters Magnolia and Darby.
His love and pride in his grandchildren was amazing and they will all remember Grandpa Dick and how much he adored them. Dick is also survived by his brother, Randy; sister-in-law, Karen and nieces, Nikki and Torri Read. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Byron.
Dick graduated from Michigan State University in 1964 and worked in sales for Burroughs Corporation, Sperry Univac and Applied Digital Data Systems, before founding RTW, Inc., a technology company in 1978.
He and his wife, Linda, retired in 2011, after running the highly successful company for 33 years. Following his family, Dick’s greatest passions in life were his beloved Detroit Tigers and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Dick will be remembered for his incredible love and intense loyalty for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Dick has asked that donations be made to Brophy College Preparatory for the Loyola Program, which is a college preparatory program for boys entering 6th grade who demonstrate substantial academic promise as well as verified financial need.
