Open letter to the Fountain Hills Town Council and the Maricopa County Sheriff:
With the new administration in the Sheriff’s office, I am hoping that the Sheriff will devote more of his deputies’ time to routine traffic enforcement in the interest of safety.
I enjoy walking around the lake at Fountain Park for my exercise. I live close enough to the park that, for several years, I walked to the park, around the lake, and back home. Too many times, crossing either Palisades or Saguaro Boulevards, I came close to being hit by drivers who evidently thought that the stop signs were suggestions, not mandatory. Indeed, there are times in the year when I feel like a pedestrian in a crosswalk is considered target practice.

I now drive to the park to get in my walk. I fear that a person, like me, with moderate mobility problems will come to an untimely end.
Also, how about monitoring the way commercial vehicles and town vehicles park willy-nilly in handicap spots, fire lanes and wheelchair access ramps with impunity?
